Aims and Objectives

The aim of NHW is to help forge good neighbour relationships and work together as a community to reduce crime on the estate. It also aims to raise awareness of how residents can better protect their property and how they can help protect their neighbours. Also, encouraging residents to note strangers or other issues within their area and follow up/report as appropriate. NHW gives a chance for us, as residents, to liaise directly with the police via regular residents meetings, and also more informally and on a regular basis through enhanced community relations. The police will also update us regularly with any issues or concerns they have and what to keep an eye out for.

CCTV Map

We are designing a CCTV map of the estate, which will note residents who have CCTV in place. This will aid police in speeding up investigations. This map will only be shared with the police and access restricted to a few key committee members. It will not be available to other residents. Please email nhw[at]abbotswoodromsey.co.uk if you wish your details to be added.

Information packs available to residents

A small pack containing useful safety and security information, as well as a NHW house sticker, no cold calling sign and 2 ‘no valuables left in the car’ display will be available at our launch event for a suggested donation of £2.00 (1 pack per household). Further packs will be available from the community centre after the launch event.

Partnerships

We work closely with the Community Association to enhance our local community and environment. We collaborate to offer advice and education on community concerns such as parking, speeding and cyber crime. We work to protect the most vulnerable members and other residents of our community from cold calling and scams. We also liaise closely with the commercial residents for mutual benefit.

Funding, Donations and Sponsorship

We rely on sponsorship and donations to support the scheme and all members are volunteers. If you are interested in donating or offering sponsorship, then please contact nhw[at]abbotswoodromsey.co.uk
